Architecture overview
A production SERP scraper needs three components:
- Request layer — rotating proxies with session stickiness when needed
- Parsing layer — HTML parser + result extractor
- Storage layer — deduplication and result persistence
Choosing the right proxy type
For SERPs, ISP proxies are the best balance of performance and cost. They carry real residential IP reputation (assigned by actual ISPs) but connect at datacenter speeds. Residential proxies work but are 3–5× more expensive per request.
Rotation strategy
Rotate IPs per request for keyword research. For rank tracking (where you need consistency), use sticky sessions with the same IP for 10–15 minutes per location.
